Travel tips, beaches and bathing when you land in Pisa.

When you arrive in Pisa and want to visit a nearby beach, I would recommend visiting the Versilia coast, which is around 30-40 minutes by car from Pisa. Here you will find some of the most beautiful beaches in Tuscany, with clean water and beautiful views.

Some of the most popular beaches on the Versilia coast include:

Viareggio beach (c) Ingar Næss

Viareggio Beach:

  • This is one of the most famous beaches in Tuscany, with a long sandy beach and a wide selection of beach clubs and restaurants.

Forte dei Marmi beach (c) Ingar Næss

Forte dei Marmi beach:

  • This is one of the most exclusive beaches in Tuscany, with crystal clear water and white sand. Here you will also find many shops, restaurants and cafes. Read more below.

Marina di Pietrasanta Beach:

  • This is one of the most family-friendly beaches on the Versilia coast, with a wide sandy beach and many facilities for children, such as playgrounds and beach clubs.

Lido di Camaiore Beach:

  • This is another popular beach on the Versilia coast, with a long sandy beach and many restaurants and cafes along the promenade.

When you visit these beaches, it is important to remember to bring sunscreen, beach towels, and umbrellas to protect yourself from the sun. You can also hire sunbeds and parasols on most beaches if you wish.

I hope this helps you plan a great family vacation in Pisa and the Versilia coast, and that you have a wonderful time at the beach!

As you can see from the map, there is a long beach of almost 20 km, so if you fancy a bike ride or ask to use the apostles' horses, it will also be a nice ride. You also see the distance between Pisa and Lucca.

Forte dei Marmi

Forte dei Marmi beach is one of the most popular beaches in the Tuscany region of Italy. The beach is known for its fine sand and clear blue water, and it is very popular with both tourists and locals.

Forte dei Marmi town is a beautiful and charming town located on the coast of the Ligurian Sea, and has a long history as a fishing village. The town has a large selection of restaurants, bars and shops, and is also known for its elegant villas and luxury hotels. The city attracts many wealthy tourists, and is particularly popular with Italian and international celebrities. (and ordinary Norwegians)

Forte dei Marmi is also known for its art scene, housing several galleries and art shops. The city also hosts several cultural events and festivals throughout the year, including music and theater performances.

The beautiful location on the Ligurian Sea makes Forte dei Marmi a popular destination for water activities such as surfing, windsurfing and sailing. There are also several tours and excursions available from the city, including trips to the nearby cities of Lucca, Pisa and Florence. All in all, Forte dei Marmi is a beautiful and sophisticated city that offers a perfect mix of sun, sea, culture and luxury.

Another tip is to check restaurants where the local population buys their take away pizza, because there you will get the very best.
